TDI (formally known as Telecommunications for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Inc.) was established in 1968 originally to promote further distribution of TTYs in the deaf community and to publish an annual national directory of TTY numbers.
Today, it is an active national advocacy organization focusing its energies and resources to address equal access issues in telecommunications, media, and information technologies for four constituencies in deafness and hearing loss, specifically people who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, late-deafened, or deaf-blind.
TDI is also a founding member of the Coalition of Organizations for Accessible Technology (COAT). COAT is working hard on passing the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2009 (H.R. 3101)
TDI has created several vlogs on different topics. Click the links below to view vlogs on different topics: Vlog #1— 11/2009— H.R. 3101 Vlog #2—12/2009— 2009 in Review! Vlog #3— 3/2010— FCC Declaratory Ruling Vlog #4— 4/2010— CEPIN Project Vlog #5— 5/2010— VRS Rate Changes
